To reinforce its international positioning as "Grasse, French Riviera, Land of Naturals," the City of Grasse has, for nearly a decade, organized and hosted the International CENTIFOLIA Congress (www.centifolia-grasse.net), which promotes the use of natural products in perfumery to the finished product brands. More recently, this congress has integrated the concepts of sustainable and equitable development into both its program and practices.The success of this undertaking has led the Club des Entrepreneurs du Pays de Grasse to continue this strategy by creating the first international cosmetics congress in Grasse, “Cosmethica, Natural Products in Cosmetics.” It is a cosmetics congress that stands apart from the others, for it has two objectives:
- 1)to develop and promote the use of natural products in cosmetics, and
- 2)to unite natural products and ethics in the supply policies and practices of the Brands.
Cosmethica is positioned to recognize and support organizations and companies which have incorporated CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) into their business strategies, supporting sustainable development in their industries. The congress also serves to promote the formation and maintenance of equitable, profitable, and sustainable trade with indigenous communities, raw material producers, and those who serve as the guardians of ancestral savoir faire.
